A couple days ago I saw a news clip on rising wheat prices. I thought "Oh shit." It would have to be pretty bad to affect us, but there are places in the world that don't have the same buffers against starvation. This morning BBC world aired Forgotten Fruit, a documentary about rediscovering alternative crops like millet and rescuing once popular fruits like medlar from obscurity. The broadcast is in conjuction with the BBC news article on rediscovering forgotten crops.

For some reason the iPod mini doesn't really like just being unmounted. Its screen continues to display the "do not disconnect" message. It likes to be ejected, though.

After being shut out of the debates and marginalized by the mainstream media and his own party, Congressman Dennis Kucinich has withdrawn from the 2008 U.S. presidential race.
